Party Songs

When the reception gets underway, you need it to start off slow whilst everyone’s still mingling (different guests may arrive for the reception than those who attended the ceremony) so having a chill start for people to knock up conversations to crucial.

You then want the party to gradually pick up the pace before cresending at the end (make sure not to play all your big hitters too early!).

I’ve created wedding playlists that have this structure for each decade, which may be preferable depending on your age or music taste.

However, having a diverse playlist that spans many decades is usually best since your guests will most likely all be different ages! So by pressing shuffle on these playlists, you will likely cater to all your guests!

FAQs

To find the perfect wedding song, consider your musical preferences, the theme of your wedding, and the emotional connection you have with certain songs. You can also seek recommendations from friends, family, and wedding planners.

Traditional wedding songs often include classics like “Here Comes the Bride” for the processional, “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel for the bride’s entrance, and “Wedding March” by Felix Mendelssohn for the recessional.

The first three dances at a wedding typically include the couple’s first dance, followed by the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance, all of which hold special significance and sentimental value.

There are many beautiful love songs, but “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers, “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion, and “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton are often regarded as some of the most beautiful and heartfelt love songs. But music is very subjective and affects different people differently. The best song for you will likely be different for everyone else!
